Chapter 5 blog!

O my god chapter 5, thats pretty much all i have to say....This totally blew my mind and caught me of guard. It totally disgusts me and makes me not want to ever touch a fish again. I feel so unsanitary and gross. I never thought about it that way, that fish eat the trash we throw away and then we eat the fish. I know im not eating fish for a very long time. It inspires me how Crowley thinks and the ideas her and her team have to clean up the ocean. Yet the ocean is VERY BIG so my only question is how is it your going to clean it up if we dont stop throwing stuff away? Humes book Garbology is one step but it just makes me think how long till people actually relize whats going on and are actually start taking action to help our planet? Its going to be a long time till she is able to clean it all up but this is a good start we just need to start getting people to see whats going on and help Crowley and Humes out!

Chapter 4 Blog!

I find it quite interesting that David Steiner is the King of trash. Yet he doesnt have much of a choice since he is the CEO of the largest trash company. I find there history so amusing, especially since they literally threated all of there competion and bought them out. It was also amusing how it was so easy for them to pay off all there felonys off and just commit another crime. Further into chapter 4 Humes talks about how we could of they tried to convert the daily flow of trash into electricity for the cities. Which is quite smart if you ask me then we would be killing two birds with one stone. Not using to many resources and also getting rid of our trash. The reason that didnt pass through was because people didnt want a big chimney blocking there view but now a big mountain of trash is blcoking there view.

Chapter 3 BLOG!!!

Reading chapter 3 of Garbology was mind blowing!!!! Honestly I never thought about how corporations would try to estimate how long there products last. It surprises me even more that they were correct. So now when I go buy a new lab top I know its not going to last forever. Eventually it will burn out, which seriously sucks! Yet that was just one thing in chapter 3 that took my breath away. When Humes' mentioned all the facts about how people just waste and spend money on useless stuff that will last them no more than 6 months. Consumption is the main reason for our waste! So the average rate of human trash will be less if we consume less. Basically that's what he says  in chapter 3.

Joy Of Garbage

Reading the "Joy of Garbage" by Justine Parkin was very mind tricking. It made me think a lot about how he is totally right. Outside or in public in general everyone will always try to help the environment, yet when you are at home you don't care or don't think about what you throw away. Parkin asks " If we could evolve from a "throw away"  economy, what would it look like?" In my opinion, I feel like if we evolved from a "throw away"  economy every person would have one item of each thing they need and it would be reusable. So for example, someone would just have a cup in there back pocket that they would use everytime that they got thirsty and the stores wouldn't have bottle sodas they would just have they would just have a soda fountain with every drink so you can just refill your cup and go.

Interview BLOG!

Reading interview, between Terry Gross and Edward Humes left me BLOWN AWAY! With all the information that Humes gave, and all the questions that Gross asked i just dont even know what to do with my trash! Who knew that theres a possibility that my house could be on top of a landfill? That never crossed my mind. Besides that it really frustrates me that the EPA, our government; is giving out false information. I dont think its fair that we the people dont know the correct amount of trash that the average american makes. I think its totally wrong, and just damn right dumb. In my opinion, I think the goverment should get the stuff together. It would probably help if we the people knew the exact amount of trash we consume; i believe it would help us produce less trash and value what we throw away.

Blog 2!!!!

Garbage, What is it? Where does it come from? How did we get so much of it? These questions we ask ourselves everyday. Us humans throw away every little thing that is no use to us anymore. Whether its a soda bottle to a Apple Mac computer. We dont think about passing it down to people that need it more than us. For example, if you have a computer that you dont use since you got a new Mac computer. Most people rather let it sit there and rot till its ready to be thrown away than just pass it down to a smaller brother, cousin, friend, etc. that is going into college or needs it for a job. Another example is with food. How many restaurants or even people in general throw away leftover food that is no use to them anymore. Million of people are sleeping outside food shelters so they can have just one plate of food for the day or starving because they cant afford anything to eat.  One thing we all have  to think about is how would you feel if you were in there postion, knowing that you could of had some of that food that someone just threw away.
Reading Garbology, has just kept me thinking of what is going to happen when we don't have

anywhere to put it. Where are we going to put our trash? Is it just going to collapse on all of us or will

we find a solution soon?
